English 15 was surprisingly fun for me. I have never really been much of a writer and always dreaded the thought of writings papers, but this was different. The topics that were displayed and talked about really helped me, like just trying to get the audience's attention from different angles and views. I had no idea how to really write a research paper until now. Never even heard of MLA format until now. Still was a little tricky but overall I think I started to get the hang of it. My favorite topic was the memoir paper. It gave me a chance to express myself and my emotions for first time. I rarely ever do that. The classroom was filled with interesting young people that really seemed passionate on what they would write a about and how they express themselves. The only thing I did not like was blogging and eight AM class. Everything was just peachy. I would definitely take this class over for a better grade and just for the writing itself.

Event #2
On April 27th I attended the moving on concert. Filled with vast and wide variety of musical artist, the event itself is based off the accomplishments and academic success and the parting of the graduating class. It has been a tradition at Penn State for 38 years now. Starting in 1974, it is enriched with history of musical performances such as Wilco, Run DMC, Fall Out Boy, and many many more. I attended the first band that was playing and the last band that was playing. Young the Giant who played at 5 were amazing to me live. This indie rock band went well beyond my expectations. "They played some of their hit songs like "I Got" and "My Body". "My Body being the last performance of the was awesome. Lead singer started crowed surfing and was nearly dropped. Quite the spectacle... The Avett Brothers were the last on the line up. They play a folksy bluegrass, mixed with some indie rock. The banjo playing was intense, but the cold made the concert not a comfortable showing. I had a really great time attending this event and happy to be part of Penn State History. I hope to see everyone there next year.

Review of Pickles
If you have ever walked down Allen Street off of College
Ave. You might have seen the restaurant bar called Bill’s Pickles tap room or
mostly just known as pickles. This
genuine bar has its location in central state college right off of the
university making it an ideal spot to get a bite to eat or a nice refreshing
drink. The menu has simplicity to it, with items like the Reuben and Philly cheese
steaks or if you are looking for the something light they provide a delicious
Greek Salads. The bar usually has at least 10 beers on tap and a menu of drinks
specials based on the days of the week. Perfect example would be if you were to
go on a Tuesday night, it would be considered country night and you have the
opportunity to purchase $2.50 Lynchburg Lemonades a great value considering if
it wasn’t on special. The environment can be cool and calm or outrageously loud
and fun; with flat screen tvs hanging from all sides of the establishment you
can easily watch your favorite team play and cheer against your rivals in the
bar, but of course if you are under the age of 21, you are only allowed inside until
6 p.m. Then it becomes more of a bar scene and they have to abide by state
laws. I say if you are new in town or just looking to get a bite to eat and
meet some new people I highly suggest checking this place out. Like the motto
says “Not for Saints…Not for Sinners”.

movie goers
I recently saw the movie American Reunion that stars Jason Biggs and Sean Williams Scott. If you have ever seen the American Pie movies than you should know the cast members and the wild crazy things that happen to them. The original from 1999 was about just four teenage boys trying to lose there virginity before high school ends. This one takes us 13 years into the future where the main character Jim now has a wife and kid and the others Oz, Kevin, and Finch all have meek futures too, but coming back to there high school reunion they are hoping to stir up some good times with memories of the old times.
I liked this movie outrageously to much. Not sure if it just my kind of sense of humor or if it brought back memories for me. The reunion itself in the movie was based off of an 90s theme so that was pretty funny to me. Also showed in a weird way such a advance in technology. Going from crappy computers and no cell phones to I-phones and droids. There a joke in the movie about it... Overall I had a fun time watching this film, though it won't win awards or anything like that it. It will make you laugh.

party rocking
My reaction to the American Life podcast was a laughable
one. It was like they purposely went out
and looked for the most handicapped drunkards they could find and interviewed
them. I mean, don’t get me wrong. Everything they were saying was pretty much
true and it did enhance the reputation of Penn State of being a party school,
but there is so much more than just drinking here at Penn State. The reason why
I became part of the PSU community was 1. My friends go here so it made living
arrangements easy and 2. They are number one school for the Kinesology program
in the country which is the major I chose. 3. it’s an overall fun and relatively
safe environment.
The podcast also brought up a good point on the interviewer’s
part. In the beginning when they saw kids walking by yelling at 2 or 3 am in
the morning they also recalled doing that when they were in college. I’m
guessing they didn’t go to Penn State, so it’s not like it just happens here. I’ve
been to some tail gates, parties, bashes the whole shabang and its downright
fun. I don’t think drinking will ever go away from PSU anytime soon. To me it’s
just a silly notion to even think it and probably a waste of time on the other side’s
part. Though the podcast did make some good explanations on why they should ban
or cut alcohol consumption. It also made Penn State look like a bunch of
douches too. I now see where GQ magazine got there information…
Podcast showed one side of Penn State, the drinking side. It
didn’t talk about all the research and effort of different fields that students
study or all the hard work people put into studying to make this world a better
safer place. None of that was included and if students are going to get drunk,
well they’re going to get drunk. Until they reach my age and realize that it
just starts to hurt and gets really expensive.

Art what is it?
What is art? Art is the quality,
production, expression, or realm, according
to aesthetic principles,
of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary
significance. This is the definition from
dictionary.com. Art to me can array of different things. Tropical island or
snowy mountain top with fresh snow. It can be music, food, entertainment there
are so many variables to art. I think it’s how you can capture the moment for
your own self pleasure. Like most paintings and drawings the artist was
originally looking at he thought was amazing so he painted it or drew it. Musicians
hear the sounds of noises that are pleasant to them and other so they record, movies
to entertain and foods to enjoy.
My favorite
form of art is of course the movies, especially when it comes time for the academy
awards. Movies are in a sense one big art project in itself. Besides the film
and directions, you need sets, costumes, make up and sounds effects. I did not
see all of the movies that were up for best picture. I did see a few though.
One was Moneyball with Brad Pitt. Inspiring tale of a crappy baseball with barely
any money for good players turned around by science and Johan Hill. Art I think
overall is pure entertainment. We watch movies, listen to music, eat appealing
foods and stare at intriguing pictures or objects and because we all liked to
be entertain one way or the other.

Palmer Experience
I was not able to find much about the artist who made this piece of artwork but I'm sure he was trying to tell the story of the life of a miner or maybe just a glispe of it. The one miner is looking down at his sandwich with milk in hand trying to conserve energy, while the other man lays back with his apple in hand having a exhausted expression but also glad its break time. Not sure if this piece of art is making a political statement but I am sure its probably making a social statement about the life of the miner and the troubles they endure.
The experience I had visiting at the Palmer Museum was not anything sufficient for me. The art was all right but I like more history behind different artifacts and relics instead glancing at piece of art. Though it was a good experience and I am glad I went.
